The Tantramar Radio Society will have $30,000 in the bank after Cumberland County council unanimously passed a motion to release the money for the project.
Following a brief presentation by Geoff deGannes, council was satisfied the radio station will have enough funding and momentum to continue with the project.
With a tower already on order and $20,000 from the province in the bank, deGannes said the society needs an additional $60,000 or so for the remaining equipment, such as the transmitter.
After adding in the county grant and other donations from the community, the group will have enough to continue to move forward while still looking for additional funding from the other municipalities, businesses and community members.
The radio group is hoping to be on the air by June 12, which is the final day of the two-year period the society has without having to apply for an extension. (Amherst Daily News)
